I dropped out of university to start a painting business.

We helped customers build decks and fences. Then waterproofing basements. Then paving driveways.

Eventually we were remodeling kitchens and bathrooms.

My brother and I built it from scratch to 8 figures.

At that point, I was drowning in admin work.

I learned how to code with a friend. Together we built automations for quoting, lead response, and bookkeeping.

We spun this out in 2017.

The concept morphed into something bigger.

A platform that let homeowners design and purchase their renovation online.

It worked incredibly well. We scaled to 8 figures in 2 years.

Over 1,000 bathroom renovations in Vancouver.

Systems that scaled our operations with only 3 staff.

Our valuation soared. We fielded a dozen offers to acquire the business.

Then the markets turned.

By 2022, every offer was pulled. Many of the acquirers themselves had gone bankrupt.

My partner wanted to build consumer tech. I wanted to serve contractors.

I knew their pain personally. It was natural.

I began building Homerenu to sell software to contractors.

It was difficult. Most contractors didn't want to change their process. They had something that worked.

Then AI came along.

We could build software that runs itself.
